Bankable BESS POWERED BY experience

Our mission at Calibre Energy is to ensure you get the right BESS system, one that meets and exceeds your needs in all areas: value, performance, safety, and reliability. To do that, we’ve partnered with WEG, a global electrical equipment manufacturer with a 60-year track record of manufacturing and supporting mission-critical electric equipment for large customers around the world.

Calibre Energy was founded by Rob Budny to help grow BESS in the US. An engineer with 20 years of experience in the energy industry, Rob’s relationship with WEG dates back 20 years. Rob was an engineering manager at a wind turbine OEM, and WEG developed a generator for that wind turbine. Based on the positive experience he had with that project, Rob’s returned to partner with WEG again and again on projects including wind turbine design review, technical due diligence, manufacturing process development, and supplier qualification and management.

In my 20 years of working with WEG, I’ve seen a level of professionalism and excellence rarely encountered in the market today. I see that same level of professionalism displayed by the WEG BESS product and service teams. It is a great honor and pleasure for me to represent WEG BESS and to promote their products and services to the Southwestern United States.”

Applications

WEG BESS is designed for the needs of today’s utility grids and large-scale commercial applications.

Peak shaving and demand charge management

Reduce overall costs for electric service by reducing demand charges during peak periods specified by the utility.

Renewable Time of Use Shifting

Store renewable generation and supply it to the grid during periods of high demand.

Voltage Regulation

Monitor and correct changes in voltage relative to a defined set point.

Time-of-use energy cost management

Charge BESS when the rates are low and discharge it during peak times, with the aim of reducing the utility bill or generating supplemental revenue.

Renewable clipping

Store renewable generation that would otherwise be clipped due to grid congestion.

Frequency Regulation

Monitor and correct changes in frequency relative to the user-defined set point.

Inertia

Generate both synthetic inertia, as well provide real inertia, when required.

Power quality management

Provide a high-level of power quality above and beyond what the utility offers where the facility’s critical loads are very important and limit disturbances transmitted at upper levels.

Power Factor Regulation

Influence the supply voltage by improving the performance of alternating-current (ac) power systems by using the BESS inverter/ converter ability to locally compensate the reactive power.

Load Shedding

Address utility pricing agreements that require load-shedding without having to shutdown processes.
